Mobile Parking Without a Convenience Fee – Another Step Forward in Digitalisation

As of 16 March 2026, the convenience fee for mobile parking payments will be abolished, allowing customers to manage their parking even more easily and under more favourable conditions via their mobile phones. This change brings tangible relief to everyday mobility and further strengthens the role of digital solutions in Hungarian public services.

Mobile parking offers a fast, convenient and accurate solution: customers pay exactly for the time they park, there is no need for coins or parking machines, and parking can be started and stopped with just a few taps on a mobile phone.

The elimination of the convenience fee fits seamlessly into the digital development strategy of the National Mobile Payment System, which aims to provide simpler, more transparent and more customer‑friendly mobility services.

Significant progress has already been made in the field of digital transport solutions: from 1 September 2025, e‑vignette purchases have also been available without a convenience fee through NMPS resellers, while customers continue to benefit from genuine convenience features such as fast purchasing, digital records and easy verification.

Together, mobile parking and the e‑vignette service clearly demonstrate how digital solutions can make everyday transport simpler, faster and more convenient.

The 2026 e-vignettes are already available through the National Mobile Payment System (NMFR). Please note: vignettes purchased for 2025 remain valid until 31 January 2026, so it is advisable to secure your new entitlement in time.

Convenience Fee Removed from e-Vignette Purchases – Simpler and More Affordable Digital Access

As of September 1, 2025, a significant change has been introduced in the digital sale of motorway e-vignettes: the convenience fee associated with e-vignette purchases has been eliminated, allowing customers to obtain their road usage authorization without any additional charges via the National Mobile Payment System (NMFR). The removal of the convenience fee is mandated by Act LVI of 2025, which regulates the provision of public services within the toll and usage fee systems and amends related legislation. According to the new regulation, no online service provider is permitted to charge a convenience fee for motorway e-vignette purchases. A New Era in Public Transportation: National and County Passes Now Available Digitally

The digitalization of public transportation has reached another milestone: from April 1, 2025, full-price and discounted versions of national and county passes can be purchased through the National Mobile Payment System on behalf of MÁV Személyszállítási Zrt. Thanks to this innovation, passengers can buy their passes anytime, anywhere, with just a few clicks—without waiting in line or dealing with paper-based administration. Moreover, they can conveniently use their purchased passes on their mobile devices.

Customer Information

We would like to inform you that in the NMPS Mobile Payment and Public Transport Mobile Ticket applications, only one-time (ad-hoc) bank card payments are currently available besides other payment methods, such as balance top-up or secure payment solutions (e.g., Google Pay for Android or Apple Pay for iOS). To ensure a smooth and convenient experience, we recommend using the NMPS balance, which can be maintained easily with manual or automatic top-up options. You can set custom limits so that when your balance drops below a specified amount, the system automatically reloads it with a predefined sum (e.g., 1,000 HUF). On the NMFR web portal, we recommend one-time bank card payments besides bank transfer payments in order to use our services.

Legal background

The 100% state-owned National Mobile Payment Plc. was established in 2014 to provide digital cashless services under the terms and conditions set out in the 2011 CC Act on National Mobile Payments and the implementing Government Decree 356/2012 (XII.13.). In the course of its activities, the National Mobile Payment Plc. ensures the payment of public parking in Hungary by means of a nationwide uniform mobile payment, the purchase of Hungarian motorway tolls on mobile phones, the redemption of local and interurban tickets and passes for public transport. On 15 December 2020, the Parliament adopted Act CXLV of 2020 on the "Unified Electronic Sale of Certain Public Services", which entered into force on 1 January 2021 and repealed the previous Act CC of 2011 on the National Mobile Payment System ("Nmftv.").
